In 1991, Scholastic realized teenagers wanted their own horror, launching the Point Horror series with authors like R.L. Stine (whose "Blind Date" launched his career), Christopher Pike, Caroline B. Cooney, and Diane Hoh.

With titles like "The Babysitter" and "The Boyfriend," these books moved horror from Gothic castles to high school hallways.
